**Chennai, May 5, 2025** – Swayam Plus, an initiative of the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT-M) under the Union Education Ministry, has launched a series of free artificial intelligence (AI) courses. These courses are open not only to engineering students but also to those in arts, science, and commerce, aiming to democratize access to AI education.
The courses, which range from 25 to 45 hours in duration, are aligned with the National Credit Framework and can be used for credit by higher education institutions. The curriculum includes hands-on labs and interactive applications. For example, the physics course uses AI tools to explore machine learning and neural networks in solving real-world problems, while the chemistry course focuses on applying AI to predict molecular structures and model chemical reactions.
