Sun May 04 22:50:00 UTC 2025: ## Guardians Edge Out Blue Jays 5-4 in Close Contest

**Toronto, ON -** The Cleveland Guardians narrowly defeated the Toronto Blue Jays 5-4 on Sunday in a tightly contested game at Rogers Centre. Despite rookie Tanner Bibee exiting early due to leg cramps after five innings, the Guardians secured the win thanks to a strong offensive performance.

Gabriel Arias led the Cleveland offense with three hits and two RBIs, contributing significantly to their victory. Six-time All-Star José Ramírez, returning to the lineup after a right ankle sprain, went 0-for-4 with a walk. Bibee, who improved his record to 3-0 against Toronto, allowed three runs (two earned) and five hits before being replaced by Tim Herrin.

The Blue Jays’ Bowden Francis pitched 4 1/3 innings, giving up four runs and six hits in the loss. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. hit a sacrifice fly in the ninth, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Guardians’ lead, which was extended by Carlos Santana’s bases-loaded walk. Emmanuel Clase secured his seventh save of the season for Cleveland.

Looking ahead, the Guardians will send Luis Ortiz to the mound on Monday against Washington, while the Blue Jays have yet to announce their starting pitcher for Tuesday’s game against the Los Angeles Angels. Tyler Anderson is set to start for the Angels.
