Mon May 05 17:55:35 UTC 2025: ## India Responds to Cyberattacks Amidst Heightened Tensions with Pakistan
**NEW DELHI, May 5, 2025** – India is investigating a series of cyberattacks targeting its defense institutions, allegedly perpetrated by a group calling itself the “Pakistan Cyber Force.” The attacks come amidst escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, including increased military deployments along the border and heightened social media activity.
According to defense sources, the group claims to have accessed sensitive data from the websites of the Indian Military Engineering Service (MES) and the Manohar Parrikar Institute of Defence Studies and Analysis (MPIDSA). They also reportedly defaced the website of Armoured Vehicle Nigam Limited (AVNL), a defense public sector undertaking, replacing it with the Pakistani flag and an image of an Al-Khalid battle tank. The AVNL website has been taken offline for a security audit.
The alleged breach raises concerns about the potential compromise of personal information related to defense personnel, including login credentials. Indian cybersecurity agencies are actively monitoring for further attacks and taking steps to strengthen digital defenses and enhance the overall resilience of online platforms. This incident follows previous cyberattack attempts on Army-affiliated institutions since the recent uptick in tensions between the two countries. Defense Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday to discuss the situation.
