**New Delhi, May 3** – The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a forecast predicting widespread rainfall and isolated hailstorms across several regions of India over the next week. Telangana is expected to experience isolated hailstorms on May 4th.
The IMD bulletin outlines a pattern of light to moderate rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds (30-50 kmph), across a large swathe of the country, including Karnataka, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Telangana, Rayalaseema, Kerala, Mahe, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal for the next seven days. The Northeast is expected to see more significant rainfall, with isolated heavy rainfall predicted for Assam and Meghalaya (May 5-8) and Arunachal Pradesh (May 5-7).
Eastern and central India will also experience rainfall, with isolated heavy rainfall expected in Odisha on May 4th and 5th. Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, West Bengal, Sikkim (until May 6th), and Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, and Chhattisgarh (until May 8th) can expect scattered to fairly widespread rainfall with strong winds (40-60 kmph).
Northwest India, including Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh, will experience scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall with gusty winds (40-60 kmph) from May 4th to 10th. Eastern Rajasthan may experience dust storms on May 4th and 5th.
Gujarat is expected to experience isolated heavy rainfall (May 4th-8th), with very heavy rainfall predicted for May 7th and 8th. Light to moderate rainfall is also anticipated in Gujarat, Konkan & Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, and Marathawada during the same period.
Finally, hot and humid weather is predicted for Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal on May 4th, and Kerala and Mahe on May 4th and 5th. The IMD advises residents in affected areas to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions.
