**New Delhi, May 6, 2025** – A pre-monsoon weather system has brought widespread thunderstorms and rain across several parts of India, with North India bearing the brunt of the stormy weather. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a range of alerts, from yellow to orange, across multiple states.

**Delhi-NCR:** Delhi is expected to experience light rain and strong winds (30-40 km/h) on Tuesday, prompting a yellow alert. Orange alerts are in place for several areas including southwest and southeast Delhi, Gurgaon, Noida, Faridabad, and Mathura, warning of moderate rain and gusty winds. Yellow alerts are active for other parts of the NCR, including Ghaziabad and surrounding areas.

**Other Affected States:**

* **Rajasthan:** Heavy rain and winds (40-60 km/h) have caused significant disruption, with reports of fallen trees and traffic congestion. Orange and yellow alerts are in effect for 14 districts. The stormy weather is expected to continue throughout the week.
* **Uttar Pradesh:** Strong winds and rain are expected across several areas, including Lucknow and the eastern parts of the state. An orange alert has been issued for Unnao, warning of heavy rain, lightning, and even hail.
* **Bihar:** Light to moderate rain with thunderstorms and strong winds (50-60 km/h) are forecast, with yellow alerts issued for several districts including Patna, Gaya, and Bhagalpur. An orange alert is in place for Siwan, Aurangabad, Gaya, and Nawada districts for the next few days.
* **Punjab:** Several districts experienced heavy rainfall, leading to waterlogging and traffic jams in some areas.
* **Himachal Pradesh:** Heavy rain, hail, and snow are expected until May 11, with the worst conditions anticipated until May 9.
* **Uttarakhand:** Authorities have been advised to remain vigilant, with the possibility of heavy rain, hail, and lightning over the next three days.
* **Maharashtra:** Mumbai and surrounding areas are under a yellow alert for the next few days, with moderate rain and thunderstorms predicted.
* **Other States:** Various parts of Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Karnataka, Kerala, the Northeast, and Jammu & Kashmir are also expected to experience varying degrees of rainfall and strong winds.

The IMD attributes the widespread stormy weather to a western disturbance affecting North India, with this system also influencing weather patterns across parts of central and southern India. Citizens in affected areas are urged to exercise caution and heed all weather warnings issued by the IMD.
