Sun May 04 14:40:41 UTC 2025: ## Telangana University Increases Seats for Farm Workers’ Children, Launches Farmer Outreach Program

**Hyderabad, May 4, 2025** – Professor Jayashankar Telangana Agricultural University (PJTAU) announced a significant expansion of its commitment to supporting farmers’ children. Starting in the 2025-26 academic year, the university will allocate 15% of its seats to children of farm workers, in addition to the existing 40% reserved for children of farmers.

This initiative, announced by Vice Chancellor Aldas Janaiah, is coupled with a new outreach program titled “rythu mungitlo shastravettalu” (scientists in the farmers’ threshold). Beginning May 5th, 200 teams of agricultural scientists will visit approximately 1,200 villages across Telangana until June 13th. The program aims to educate farmers on sustainable agricultural practices, including reducing urea usage, responsible chemical application, efficient water management, crop diversification, tree cultivation, and environmental protection. The teams will cover South, Central, and North Telangana, with 100 teams assigned to South Telangana and 50 each to the Central and North regions. The university is urging its teaching staff to promote awareness of these initiatives among parents.
