**Madurai, Tamil Nadu, May 4, 2025** – A 45-day government exhibition showcasing various state programs and schemes opened in Madurai on Sunday. This marks the 38th such exhibition in the city and the 228th statewide since the program began in 1978. The exhibition, held at Tamukkam grounds, features 26 stalls representing government departments including education, tourism, and rural development, as well as six stalls from municipal bodies.
Minister for Commercial Taxes and Registration P. Moorthy inaugurated the event, which is expected to attract significant foot traffic, mirroring the success of last year’s Madurai exhibition which drew 82,000 visitors. Across seven major cities in 2024-25, these exhibitions attracted over 557,000 visitors generating ₹81.64 lakh in revenue.
Entry fees are ₹15 for adults, ₹10 for children, and ₹5 for students. The exhibition also includes performances by economically weaker artists, supported by ₹5,000 grants to help with participation. Madurai Collector M.S. Sangeetha, Mayor Indrani Ponvasanth, and other officials attended the opening ceremony. The exhibition will run for 45 days.
