PUDUCHERRY, May 4, 2025 – R. Siva, Leader of the Opposition and DMK convenor in Puducherry, has called on the government to intervene and assist a group of pilgrims traveling to Kashi who were reportedly detained and harassed in Rajasthan. The pilgrims, many of whom are elderly women, were allegedly detained due to permit issues with their transportation.

Mr. Siva has contacted Chief Minister N. Rangasamy, urging immediate action to ensure the safe return of the pilgrims to Puducherry. He has also contacted the Transport Commissioner and District Collector. In addition to advocating for their release, Mr. Siva has facilitated the immediate transfer of financial aid from the DMK to the stranded pilgrims.
