**Hyderabad, Telangana, May 3, 2025** – The Hyderabad and Cyberabad police commissionerates have reported a significant decrease in response times for the Dial 100 emergency helpline, addressing widespread citizen concerns about delays. While social media has been flooded with complaints about unanswered calls and slow response times to various emergencies, officials claim a nearly 50% improvement year-on-year.
Hyderabad’s average response time has dropped to six minutes, down from 13 minutes during the April-June quarter of 2024. While rural areas still experience longer response times (10-12 minutes) due to geographical challenges, officials maintain that every call is addressed. The city handles approximately 8,000 calls daily, registering 150-200 FIRs.
Cyberabad, though experiencing lower call volumes (800-1000 daily), has reduced its average response time from 20 minutes to 10-12 minutes by strategically deploying resources in high-density areas. The Rachakonda commissionerate also saw improvements, reporting an average response time of 8.37 minutes in 2024.
Officials acknowledge challenges such as initial call verification processes, sometimes inaccurate location data from cell towers, and the outsourced nature of the call centre management. However, they emphasize a first-come, first-served system and continuous improvements to backend operations, including daily performance reviews and real-time adjustments based on call patterns. Despite the improvements, some citizens continue to express frustration over dropped calls and delays.
