PUDUCHERRY, May 3, 2025 – The Puducherry government announced today it will begin licensing private individuals to conduct land surveys and drafting work for government departments. This initiative aims to alleviate workload on existing administrative staff and increase transparency in land transfer processes.
Licenses will be granted to Puducherry residents with relevant qualifications, including ITI certificates in surveying or drafting, or diplomas/degrees in civil engineering or architecture from recognized institutions. Retired government surveyors and draughtsmen are also eligible. Successful applicants will receive a month of training in modern and traditional survey techniques.
The government has set payment rates for licensed professionals: ₹25,000 per month, ₹5,000 per week, and ₹1,000 per day. Application forms are available on the Department of Revenue and Disaster Management website.
