Sat May 03 07:16:17 UTC 2025: ## Indian Consulates Hold Condolence Meetings for Pahalgam Terror Attack Victims

**Shanghai & Guangzhou, China, May 3, 2025** – Indian diplomatic missions in Shanghai and Guangzhou have held solemn gatherings to honor the victims of the April 22nd Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir. The attacks, claimed by the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba proxy group, The Resistance Front (TRF), resulted in the deaths of 26 people, mostly tourists.

The Consulate General of India in Shanghai, led by Consul General Pratik Mathur, hosted a meeting attended by consulate staff, friends of India, and members of the Indian diaspora. Similarly, the Consulate General in Guangzhou, under Consul General Shambhu Hakki, organized a large event with over 60 attendees, including diaspora members and their families. Despite the Labour Day holiday, participants from diverse backgrounds united to condemn the attack. Both events featured photographs of the victims and allowed attendees to write condolences in a book of remembrance. Many also participated virtually.

The Guangzhou Consulate’s X post highlighted the somber mood and the shared grief expressed by those in attendance who watched video clips recounting the human stories of the tragedy. The events served as a powerful display of solidarity from the Indian diaspora in China in the wake of the devastating attack. The meetings come amidst ongoing border skirmishes along the Line of Control (LoC), now in their ninth day.
