Fri May 02 04:46:13 UTC 2025: ## Delhi Flooded After Monsoon Downpour, Four Killed

**New Delhi, May 2, 2025** – A torrential downpour brought much of Delhi to a standstill early Friday morning, causing widespread waterlogging, traffic chaos, and flight delays. While the heavy rain offered a welcome respite from the recent heatwave, it also resulted in tragedy, with four deaths reported.

The deluge led to significant waterlogging in several areas, including Dwarka Underpass, South Extension, Ring Road, Minto Road, RK Puram, and Lajpat Nagar. Commuters faced hours-long delays, with reports of fallen trees blocking roads and submerged vehicles. One commuter told NDTV that their journey to school, usually a 30-minute trip, took over an hour due to the conditions. Another reported a flight delay of 15 minutes from Dubai due to the inclement weather. A sub-inspector recounted his motorcycle breaking down due to the deep water on the road while travelling to Agra.

The heavy rain also caused significant disruption at Delhi airport, resulting in hundreds of flight delays and diversions.

Tragically, a woman and her three children were killed when a tree fell on their room in Dwarka due to strong winds accompanying the storm. The incident highlights the dangers posed by extreme weather conditions. Authorities are currently assessing the damage and working to restore normalcy across the city.
