Sat May 03 08:23:56 UTC 2025: ## BJP Accuses Congress of “Supplying Oxygen to Pakistan” Amidst Row Over Balakot Air Strikes

**New Delhi, May 3, 2025** – The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) launched a scathing attack on the Congress party today, accusing it of repeatedly undermining India’s national security and boosting Pakistan’s morale. The BJP’s criticism stems from comments made by Congress leader Charanjit Singh Channi questioning the veracity of the 2019 Balakot air strikes, following the Pulwama terror attack.

BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra alleged that while the Congress Working Committee (CWC) passed a resolution demanding firm action against Pakistan for exporting terror, several Congress leaders publicly contradicted this stance. Patra highlighted Channi’s remarks, initially questioning the evidence of the Balakot strikes, before later retracting his statement. He described this as a pattern of the Congress providing “oxygen” to Pakistan.

Patra also cited other Congress leaders, including Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Maharashtra MLA Vijay Wadettiwar, Himachal Pradesh minister Inder Singh, and Robert Vadra, for their allegedly controversial comments related to the Pahalgam terror attack. He claimed these comments raised doubts about the party’s sincerity regarding national security.

The BJP further criticized Congress leaders Akhilesh Yadav and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for their views on the Modi government’s stance, citing a Pakistani senator who praised their questioning. Patra also noted that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi appears to be seeking similar praise from Pakistan.

The BJP also accused the Congress of falsely claiming credit for the government’s announcement of a caste census, stating that the Congress, despite being in power for over 60 years, never conducted such an exercise. The BJP further criticized the Congress’s past pronouncements on poverty alleviation, contrasting them with the Modi government’s current efforts. Finally, Patra addressed the controversy surrounding the name “Jagannath Dham” given to a newly constructed temple in West Bengal, insisting that the only true Jagannath Temple resides in Puri, Odisha.
