**Bengaluru, May 2, 2025** – Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), a major Indian public sector undertaking, announced the appointment of S.M. Ramanathan as its new Director (Engineering, R&D). Mr. Ramanathan, a 37-year veteran of BHEL, brings extensive experience across various departments including engineering, design, research and development, strategic management, and commercial operations.
His previous roles include Executive Director (Officer on Special Duty – Engineering, R&D) at BHEL’s Corporate Office, concurrently heading the Heavy Electrical Plant (HEP) in Bhopal. He also served as Executive Director in charge of the High Pressure Boiler Plant (HPBP) in Tiruchirapalli and the Boiler Auxiliaries Plant in Ranipet. This multifaceted experience underscores his leadership capabilities and makes him a strong asset to BHEL’s ongoing research and development efforts.
