**Hyderabad, May 1, 2025** – The Hyderabad City Police has announced a significant restructuring of its force, aimed at enhancing public access and addressing jurisdictional issues arising from a 2023 reorganization. The changes, approved by the Telangana government, involve no additional cost to the state.
The overhaul includes the creation of the 72nd Law & Order (L&O) police station in Tolichowki, formed by splitting responsibilities from Filmnagar, Mehdipatnam, and Golconda stations. The Golconda Division has been renamed Tolichowki Division to better reflect the local area. Three other police stations have also been renamed for clarity.
To improve efficiency, the restructuring addresses inconsistencies between L&O and traffic jurisdictions. Three traffic police stations have been discontinued, and five have been renamed to align with their L&O counterparts.
Specialized units are receiving reinforcements. The Women Safety Wing is expanding with a new Anti-Human Trafficking Unit and a Juvenile Bureau Unit. Cybercrime response will be decentralized, with each L&O zone receiving its own cybercrime cell.
The restructuring includes the internal reallocation of 648 personnel to strengthen the L&O and Traffic wings, and 146 Inspector-rank officers have been transferred. Updated jurisdictional maps and contact information will soon be available on the Hyderabad City Police website. Police Commissioner C.V. Anand stated that the reforms are designed to ensure the force remains efficient for at least the next decade.
