**ISLAMABAD** – Pakistan has issued a stark warning to India, claiming it possesses credible intelligence indicating an impending military strike against Islamabad within the next 24 to 36 hours. The accusation follows a deadly terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, for which India blames Pakistan.
Information Minister Attaullah Tarar stated that India is preparing an attack based on what Pakistan calls “baseless and concocted allegations” of involvement in the Pahalgam incident, which killed 26 people. Tarar rejected India’s actions as a breach of international norms, asserting that India is acting as judge, jury, and executioner. Pakistan has offered a transparent, independent investigation by a neutral commission to determine the truth, highlighting its own suffering from terrorism.
Pakistan reiterated its commitment to defending its sovereignty and urged the international community to hold India accountable for any escalation. This warning comes hours after Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi reportedly granted India’s armed forces complete operational freedom to respond to the Pahalgam attack. Modi previously vowed to pursue those responsible “to the ends of the earth.”
Tensions have been escalating sharply since the Pahalgam attack, with India taking a series of retaliatory measures. These include expelling Pakistani military attaches, suspending the 1960 Indus Water Treaty, revoking Pakistani visas, and closing the Attari land-transit post. Ceasefire violations along the Line of Control have also continued for six consecutive days. The situation remains extremely volatile, with the potential for significant regional conflict.
