Mon Apr 28 18:52:40 UTC 2025: ## Delhi Bans Non-Electric Vehicles from Forest Areas, Mandates EV Transition for Forest Department
**New Delhi, April 29, 2025** – Delhi’s Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa announced a sweeping initiative Monday to improve air quality and protect the city’s forests. All diesel and internal combustion engine vehicles operated by the Forest Department must be replaced with electric vehicles (EVs) within 60 days, Sirsa mandated. A seven-day deadline has been set for the department to submit a detailed transition plan following a comprehensive vehicle study.
Furthermore, the entry of all non-essential, non-electric vehicles – both government and private – into Delhi’s forest and protected areas is immediately prohibited.
“Delhi’s forests deserve quiet, clean mobility – not smoke and noise,” Sirsa stated, emphasizing the commitment to cleaner air and a healthier environment for all Delhi citizens. The minister highlighted the initiative as a crucial step towards a greener, more sustainable future for the city.
