Mon Apr 28 18:46:29 UTC 2025: ## BJP Accuses Former Telangana CM of Supporting Maoists, Demands CBI Probe
**Hyderabad, April 29, 2025** – The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) launched a scathing attack on former Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR), accusing him of supporting Maoist violence in Chhattisgarh and demanding a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into his administration.
At separate press conferences, BJP leaders A. Maheshwar Reddy, K. Venkateswarlu, and G. Premender Reddy alleged that KCR’s recent public speech, where he seemingly sympathized with Maoists, was a mere political tactic. They highlighted numerous encounters with Maoist cadre that occurred during KCR’s tenure, both in Telangana and during his time as a minister in united Andhra Pradesh. The BJP leaders contend that KCR’s sudden concern for Maoists is disingenuous, given his past actions.
Maheshwar Reddy further accused KCR of an “underhand deal” with current Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to halt investigations into alleged corrupt practices during the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) government. He also criticized KCR’s governance, claiming it plunged Telangana into an ₹8 lakh crore debt, citing the largely unproductive Kaleshwaram lift irrigation project as a prime example.
The BJP leaders condemned the tone of KCR’s speech, describing it as arrogant and dictatorial. They questioned the absence of any mention of Telangana martyrs at the meeting and criticized the apparent marginalization of senior BRS leader T. Harish Rao. The BJP also contrasted KCR’s alleged failures with the central government’s substantial investments in railway and national highway projects in the state.
