**KOTTAYAM, KERALA –** A wealthy businessman and his wife were found murdered in their home in Thiruvathukkal, Kottayam district, Kerala on Tuesday, April 22, 2025. Vijaya Kumar, owner of the Indraprastham Auditorium and other businesses, and his wife, Meera, were discovered by their domestic help around 8:45 a.m. Both victims suffered multiple sharp-weapon injuries to the face and were found in separate rooms without clothing. Police recovered a billhook believed to be the murder weapon.

Authorities have ruled out robbery as a motive, citing the lack of signs of forced entry. The investigation is focusing on a recently dismissed migrant worker who had reportedly exhibited behavioral issues and caused tension with the couple. Police have taken one person into custody for questioning. The couple’s daughter, who lives abroad, is the sole survivor. Kottayam District Police Chief Shahul Hameed stated that all angles are being explored.
