NEW YORK – Actress Daryl Hannah, wife of singer-songwriter Neil Young, has accused the Trump administration of attempting to undermine her husband’s U.S. citizenship. In a recent BBC interview, Hannah claimed the administration employed various tactics to obstruct Young’s citizenship process, subjecting him to repeated interviews. “They tried every trick in the book to mess him up,” she stated.

Young, born in Canada, entered the U.S. without a visa in 1966 and obtained a green card in 1970. He reportedly became a U.S. citizen in 2020, a process he said was delayed due to his past marijuana use. Young has expressed concerns about potential difficulties re-entering the U.S. after touring Europe this summer, citing instances of individuals with green cards or visas being detained upon their return.

Hannah, while acknowledging these detentions, expressed confidence that Young, as a U.S. citizen, would not face similar issues. The White House has not yet responded to a request for comment.
