**Kochi, Kerala:** Actor Shine Tom Chacko was arrested on drug charges and later released on station bail following a medical examination confirming drug use. An FIR obtained by Manorama News reveals that Chacko is accused of drug use and conspiracy at a hotel, along with co-accused Ahmed Murshid, a Kozhikode native. The FIR alleges that the pair attempted to escape by jumping out of a window upon noticing police presence.
Chacko is charged with drug use, conspiracy, and destruction of evidence. Police investigations revealed financial transactions between Chacko and alleged drug dealer Sajir, including a ₹20,000 transaction on the day of his escape. While initially denying drug use, Chacko later admitted to using methamphetamine and cannabis, and revealed he had undergone treatment at a rehabilitation center in Koothattukulam a year prior. He also admitted to knowing Taslima, an accused in the Alappuzha hybrid cannabis case, and having contacted her multiple times. He further stated that his assistants in the film industry supplied him with drugs.
Chacko’s brother, Jo John Chacko, gave conflicting statements to the media, claiming he was unaware of his brother’s rehabilitation treatment and stating he had been taken to a mental health center in Palakkad. He also mentioned he had not seen his brother for several days and that calls went unanswered. Chacko’s parents also visited him at the police station.
