**New Delhi, April 17, 2025** – Delhi police arrested a 27-year-old woman, Pooja, on Wednesday for the abduction of a day-old girl from Safdarjung Hospital. The infant was reported missing from the hospital ward on Tuesday afternoon.
Police utilized CCTV footage from the hospital and surrounding areas to track the accused to her home in Malviya Nagar, south Delhi, where the baby was recovered unharmed. Pooja confessed to the crime, stating she abducted the child because she had been unable to conceive after seven years of marriage. She allegedly deceived her husband, claiming pregnancy and admitting herself to the hospital before carrying out the abduction.
A case has been filed at the Safdarjung police station under BNS Section 137(2) (kidnapping) based on a complaint filed by the infant’s father. The investigation is ongoing.
