**Patna, Bihar, April 17, 2025** – Amidst speculation about the upcoming Bihar assembly elections, the Janata Dal (United) (JD(U)), an NDA ally, has firmly declared that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will remain in power until 2030. A large poster outside the party office proclaims “25 se 30, phir se Nitish” (“Nitish again from 2025 to 2030”), underscoring the party’s confidence in Kumar’s continued leadership.
This declaration comes in response to a statement by Haryana BJP leader Nayab Singh Saini, who predicted a BJP victory in Bihar under the leadership of Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary. JD(U) leaders have dismissed Saini’s claim, with national spokesperson Rajiv Ranjan Prasad stating that Kumar will lead the NDA in the elections and subsequently head the government. Senior JD(U) leader Neeraj Kumar attributed the poster to enthusiastic party workers, emphasizing the NDA’s commitment to Kumar’s continued chief ministership.
Further bolstering the JD(U)’s assertion, Nitish Kumar’s son, Nishant, revealed that Union Home Minister Amit Shah had confirmed Kumar’s continued tenure as Chief Minister after the elections. This statement directly counters opposition claims that the BJP might replace Kumar after the polls. Deputy Chief Minister Choudhary himself has also affirmed the NDA’s intention to retain power under Kumar’s leadership. The Bihar assembly elections are scheduled for later this year.
