**Visakhapatnam, April 17, 2025** – Following recent industrial accidents in the Visakhapatnam district, members of the Zilla Parishad (ZP) have demanded stricter safety regulations and preventative measures. The call for increased scrutiny came during a ZP general body meeting on Wednesday, where members discussed the incidents at Pharma City and firecracker manufacturing units in Anakapalli.
ZP members urged drug control officials to conduct thorough inspections across the former Visakhapatnam district, emphasizing the importance of proactive measures to prevent future accidents rather than solely reacting to them after they occur.
The meeting also addressed the ongoing water scarcity in Alluri Sitharama Raju and Anakapalli districts, with ZP Chairperson J. Subhadra instructing officials to ensure that Agency areas receive adequate drinking water.
Telugu Desam Party (TDP) MLA Bandaru Satyanarayana Murthy advocated for uniform government ex-gratia payments to families of victims in all industrial accidents. Chairperson Subhadra assured that a resolution addressing this issue would be pursued.
