**Madurai, April 15, 2025** – Two men were killed and three others injured in separate road accidents in Madurai district over the weekend.
In the first incident, a speeding truck struck a tractor from behind on the Madurai-Tiruchi highway near Pattamanglam bus stop on Sunday night, killing two occupants. The victims, identified as C. Karuppiah (51) and C. Alagu (60), were returning home to Pudukottai district after working at a quarry. The truck driver fled the scene. Kottampatti police have registered a case.
The second accident occurred on Monday on the T. Kallupatti-Peraiyur Road. S. Tamilarasan (50) died when the autorickshaw he was travelling in collided with a minibus. His wife, daughter, and granddaughter sustained head injuries and were admitted to a Madurai hospital. Police allege the autorickshaw driver, V. Ayyanar, was driving rashly and negligently.
The accidents highlight the ongoing concerns regarding road safety in the Madurai district. Investigations into both incidents are underway.
