**Kumram Bheem Asifabad, Telangana, April 15, 2025** – In a unique community outreach initiative, the Tiryani police in Telangana’s Kumram Bheem Asifabad district are converting a former police station into a library. The project aims to foster a reading culture and promote higher education and job opportunities among tribal youth in the area, once a Naxal stronghold.
The old police station building in Tiryani, the mandal headquarters, is undergoing renovations to become a library and study center. This initiative, spearheaded by Asifabad ASP S. Chitharanjan, is part of a broader effort to engage with the local community and channel the energies of young people in a positive direction. Last week, police officers visited the remote Kolamguda village, home to members of the Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group (PVTG), the Kolam tribe, to interact with residents and emphasize the importance of education.
Tiryani Sub-Inspector of Police Srikanth confirmed that the renovation is underway and the new library is expected to open soon. The project is seen as a significant step towards improving educational prospects and strengthening police-community relations in the region.
