Mon Apr 14 16:30:00 UTC 2025: ## Young Gun Rashid Impresses in CSK Debut
**Lucknow, April 15** – Sheikh Rashid, a 20-year-old opener from Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, made a stunning debut for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Monday, April 14, against Lucknow Super Giants. Despite a brief innings of only 19 balls, Rashid showcased impressive skills, scoring 27 runs at a strike rate of 142, including six boundaries. His elegant cover drives, straight drives, and pick-up shots, particularly three consecutive fours off Akash Deep, caught the eye. Although he was dismissed by Avesh Khan’s slower delivery, his 52-run partnership with Ruturaj Gaikwad laid a strong foundation for CSK’s victory.
Rashid, who rose to prominence in the 2022 Under-19 World Cup, playing a crucial role in India’s triumph, has consistently performed well in first-class cricket for Andhra, accumulating 1204 runs in 19 matches. Picked up by CSK in the mega auction for ₹30 lakhs, he finally made his IPL debut this season after missing out on playing opportunities in the previous two seasons. His explosive performance in his first match has certainly marked him as one to watch out for in this IPL season.
