**Mangaluru, April 13, 2025** – The Dakshina Kannada District Amateur Kabaddi Association received a boost today with the donation of new Kabaddi mats. The mats were sponsored by the New Mangalore Port Authority (NMPA) through their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds and the MP Local Area Development Fund. The handover ceremony took place in Bantwal, with the participation of Dakshina Kannada MP Capt. Brijesh Chowta, Bantwal MLA Rajesh U. Naik, NMPA chairman A.V. Ramana, and other officials.

MP Chowta emphasized the importance of supporting Kabaddi, particularly given India’s potential for success in the sport should it be included in the Olympics. He highlighted the Modi government’s efforts to improve sports infrastructure nationwide through initiatives like Khelo India. He also urged local businesses to provide employment opportunities for athletes.

NMPA chairman Ramana affirmed the Authority’s commitment to supporting sports development in the region. Rakesh Malli, chairman of the Karnataka Amateur Kabaddi Association, expressed gratitude for the MP’s initiative and presented requests for further improvements to sports facilities in the district. The event was attended by several other dignitaries, including Moodbidri MLA Umanath Kotian and Pro-Kabaddi player Prashanth Rai.
