Sun Apr 13 06:00:00 UTC 2025: ## Sharp Drop in Iranian Rial Exchange Rate Against Dollar

**Tehran, Iran** – The Iranian Rial experienced a significant drop against the US dollar on Saturday, marking the start of a downward trend in the exchange rate. Early morning trading opened with the dollar falling over 2,000 Tomans, settling in the 90,000 Tomans range. By the end of the day, the dollar had decreased by 2,600 Tomans compared to Thursday, trading at 98,900 Tomans.

The decline is attributed to uncertainty surrounding ongoing negotiations between Iran and the United States in Oman. Traders are reportedly hesitant to take risks until the outcome of these talks, focusing on potential de-escalation or further tension, is known. Results are expected within the next day or two.

Other currencies also reflected this trend. The Dirham fell nearly 700 Tomans, the Tether dropped 3,000 Tomans, trading slightly below the dollar. The British Pound and Euro also saw decreases.

Meanwhile, the official exchange rate at the Iran Mercantile Exchange saw a more modest decrease, with the dollar falling 71 Tomans to 70,833 Tomans, and the توافقی ( توافقی) rate dropping 69 Tomans to 68,904 Tomans. The overall market displays low demand, with traders awaiting clarity from the US-Iran negotiations.
