KOHIMA, Nagaland – A senior IAS officer in Nagaland is under investigation for allegedly sexually harassing multiple women employees of the Investment and Development Authority of Nagaland (IDAN). A First Information Report (FIR) has been filed and a Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed to probe the allegations, Nagaland Police announced Saturday.

The investigation stems from a complaint filed by the chairperson of the Nagaland State Women Commission (NSCW) on March 17, based on earlier information from the IDAN Chairman and Advisor to the Chief Minister. The NSCW subsequently recorded statements from several IDAN employees who accused the officer of demanding sexual favors in exchange for salary increases and job opportunities. The officer denies the allegations.

A preliminary inquiry, conducted by a woman Deputy Superintendent of Police, found prima facie evidence supporting the accusations. This led to the FIR being registered on April 2 and the formation of the SIT on April 5. The SIT, headed by a senior IPS officer, is currently investigating all aspects of the case.

This is not the first time the IAS officer has faced such accusations. In 2021, while serving as Deputy Commissioner of Noklak, he was booked for allegedly molesting two underage domestic workers. A charge sheet was filed, and the case is pending before a Special POCSO Court. The ongoing investigation into the IDAN allegations promises to be a significant development in Nagaland’s political and legal landscape.
