**Yadgir, Karnataka, April 12, 2025:** The death toll from a head-on collision between a pickup van and a government bus in Yadgir district, Karnataka, has risen to five. A 30-year-old woman, Hanumanthi of Warkanahalli village, succumbed to her injuries late Friday evening at a Kalaburagi hospital.
The accident, which occurred Thursday on the Bidar-Srirangapatna State Highway near Maddarki village, initially claimed the lives of four people. The pickup van, carrying passengers from Warkanahalli to a family program in Ghattaraga village, was severely damaged, requiring an earthmover to retrieve the trapped bodies. Several others sustained injuries.
MLA Channareddy Patil Tunnur visited the injured at Shahapur taluk hospital, offering financial assistance and promising to advocate for government compensation with the Chief Minister. The incident has renewed concerns about road safety in the region.
