**Meerut, April 7, 2025** – Two men accused of murder were injured in an encounter with police in Meerut’s Hastinapur area on Sunday night. The suspects, identified as Chhagga alias Balveer and Fauta alias Manmeet, both 27 and residents of Kishanpur village, each carried a ₹25,000 reward for their arrest. A head constable, Tarun Malik, also sustained a gunshot wound during the confrontation.
According to Additional Superintendent of Police (Rural) Rakesh Kumar Mishra, the suspects were involved in the April 2 murder of Parmjeet Singh alias Gulla. The encounter occurred during a routine police check near Jammudeep crossing. When police attempted to stop the suspects on a motorcycle, they fled, resulting in a motorcycle accident. The suspects then opened fire, injuring the head constable. Police retaliated, wounding both suspects.
A .32-bore and a .315-bore country-made pistol, along with the motorcycle, were seized from the suspects. All three injured individuals received medical treatment at a local hospital.
