**Kathmandu, April 5, 2025** – Two earthquakes struck western Nepal on Friday evening, April 4th, causing no immediate reports of casualties or damage, according to officials. The first quake, measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale, hit the Jajarkot district at 8:07 pm local time. Just three minutes later, a stronger earthquake of magnitude 5.5 followed, originating from the same area.
Both earthquakes had their epicenter near Panik in Jajarkot, approximately 525 km west of Kathmandu. Tremors were felt in surrounding districts including Surkhet, Dailekh, and Kalikot. Authorities are monitoring the situation for aftershocks and potential damage assessments. Nepal, located in a seismically active zone, frequently experiences such events.
