Sat Apr 05 08:50:00 UTC 2025: **North Texas Hit by Tornadoes and Severe Storms; Homes Damaged, Families Displaced**

DALLAS, TX – Severe storms, including at least one confirmed tornado, ripped through Van Zandt County on Friday, causing significant damage to homes and trees. The National Weather Service confirmed the tornado, with reports of damage beginning to come in around 3 p.m. in Grand Saline. At least eight homes sustained damage, though officials anticipate that number to rise as assessments continue. Miraculously, no injuries have been reported.

The storms left a path of destruction, downing trees and power lines and causing substantial structural damage to several residences. One homeowner, Kameron Martin, described the terrifying experience of his home shaking violently, ultimately losing part of his roof and bedroom wall. Another resident, Justina Goerdel, had her 2,000-pound porch lifted onto her mobile home’s roof, forcing her and her family into temporary hotel accommodations.

Cleanup efforts are underway, with crews working to clear debris from damaged properties. Grand Saline officials are continuing damage assessments.

The severe weather event is not over. FOX 4 meteorologist Dan Henry forecasts more storms overnight, bringing widespread rain, hail (potentially up to ping pong ball size), and gusty winds. While the tornado threat is expected to diminish, another round of heavy rain, winds up to 50-60 mph, and hail are predicted for Saturday. Colder temperatures and lingering gusty winds are expected to continue through the weekend, before a return to more seasonal temperatures by mid-week.
