Sat Apr 05 07:30:00 UTC 2025: ## Hundreds of Law Firms Rally Behind Perkins Coie in Fight Against Trump Administration

**Washington, D.C.** – Over 500 law firms have filed a friend-of-the-court brief supporting Perkins Coie in its legal challenge against President Trump’s executive order restricting the firm’s business dealings. The brief argues that the President’s actions represent a “grave threat to our system of constitutional governance and to the rule of law.”

The executive order, temporarily blocked by a judge, jeopardizes Perkins Coie’s ability to represent government contractors and limit its access to federal buildings. While the judge considers whether to permanently block the order, a significant legal battle continues.

Significantly, none of the nation’s top 20 law firms by revenue signed the brief, despite efforts to garner support from the largest firms in the industry. While some large firms, such as Covington & Burling and Arnold & Porter, eventually joined the brief, the absence of industry giants like Kirkland & Ellis, Latham & Watkins, and Gibson Dunn is notable. Approximately 10 firms within the top 100 revenue-generating firms lent their support.

Other amicus briefs in support of Perkins Coie have also been filed, including one jointly signed by the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and the Cato Institute. The widespread support from smaller and mid-sized firms underscores the concern within the legal community regarding the implications of the President’s actions on the independence of the legal profession.
