Sat Apr 05 06:40:00 UTC 2025: ## Indian Banks to Remain Open Today, Except Telangana; Several Holidays Planned for April

**NEW DELHI** – Indian banks will operate normally today, April 5th, with the exception of Telangana, where they are closed in observance of Babu Jagjivan Ram’s birthday. While banks typically close on the second and fourth Saturdays, today’s first Saturday sees most branches open for business.

However, several upcoming holidays will affect banking services throughout April. Mahavir Jayanti on April 10th will result in closures across many states, including Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Maharashtra, New Delhi, and Gujarat. Similarly, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Jayanti, Tamil New Year, and Bohag Bihu on April 14th will lead to widespread closures. Further closures are planned for April 15th (Bengali New Year, Himachal Day, Bohag Bihu in several states), April 16th (Bihu in Assam), and Good Friday on April 18th. Additional regional holidays will affect banking in Tripura, Himachal Pradesh, and Karnataka throughout the month.

Despite closures, customers can access online banking services for transactions and other banking needs during all public holidays.
