Sat Apr 05 07:10:28 UTC 2025: ## Congress Launches Organizational Overhaul Ahead of 2027 Elections

**New Delhi, April 5, 2025** – The Indian National Congress party is undertaking a significant organizational restructuring aimed at revitalizing its political standing ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections. Following recent electoral setbacks, the party is focusing on strengthening its grassroots presence, particularly at the District Congress Committee (DCC) level.

The initiative, which began with a series of meetings between party president Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi with 862 DCC chiefs, aims to empower these local units. DCCs will now play a key role in candidate selection, booth-level management, voter list scrutiny, fundraising, and campaign management. The party is also emphasizing a renewed focus on its ideological stance, built upon the principles highlighted during the Bharat Jodo Yatra, including the protection of constitutional values and social justice initiatives.

Party general secretary K.C. Venugopal highlighted the significance of these meetings, stating that such direct interaction between the DCC presidents and the high command hadn’t occurred in two decades. The party is also establishing mechanisms for regular communication with DCC presidents. Bihar has already seen fresh district-level appointments, with Gujarat serving as a testing ground for this new organizational template ahead of the 2027 state assembly elections. The upcoming All India Congress Committee (AICC) session in Gujarat will further solidify the party’s new roadmap for revival.
