Thu Apr 03 18:20:48 UTC 2025: ## Tamil Nadu to Invest ₹35 Crore in Agricultural Infrastructure
**Chennai, April 4, 2025** – The Tamil Nadu government announced a significant investment in agricultural infrastructure, allocating ₹35 crore for the development of new facilities across the state. This was revealed by the Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, M.R.K. Panneerselvam, in a statement to the Assembly on Thursday.
The largest portion of the funding, ₹25 crore, will be used to establish seven new Integrated Agriculture Extension Centres. These centers, located in various districts including Villupuram, Virudhunagar, Pudukkottai, Kanniyakumari, Ranipet, and Krishnagiri, will consolidate agricultural services under one roof. Services will include those provided by the Departments of Agriculture, Horticulture, Agri Marketing and Agri Business, Seed Certification, and Agricultural Engineering.
An additional ₹6 crore will be allocated to build two new Fertilizer Testing Laboratories, one each in Cuddalore and Tirunelveli districts. Furthermore, ₹4 crore will be invested in establishing cold storage facilities in Thisayanvilai and Manamadurai. These improvements aim to bolster agricultural productivity and support farmers across the state.
