Fri Apr 04 06:46:24 UTC 2025: ## Hyderabad Hit by Torrential Rains, Leading to Flash Floods and Rescues

**Hyderabad, April 4, 2025** – Torrential rains lashed Hyderabad on Thursday afternoon, causing flash floods and widespread disruption across the city. The downpour, lasting from 2:45 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., led to significant waterlogging, uprooted trees, and traffic gridlock in numerous areas including Panjagutta, Masab Tank, Toli Chowki, and Banjara Hills.

The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) played a crucial role in rescue and relief efforts. They dramatically rescued two individuals stranded by floodwaters in the Musi River near Chaitanyapuri. HYDRAA personnel also cleared 28 fallen trees and 48 waterlogged areas across the city.

Secunderabad recorded the highest rainfall at 88.5 mm, with other areas like Saroor Nagar, Malakpet, and Musheerabad also experiencing extremely heavy rainfall (above 80mm). Several other areas reported significant rainfall totals above 60mm.

The sudden downpour caused significant traffic congestion due to water stagnation and fallen trees. Traffic police from Hyderabad, Cyberabad, and Rachakonda collaborated with HYDRAA to clear roads and restore traffic flow.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a warning predicting further thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds across several districts in Telangana, including Hyderabad. The IMD’s warning further highlights the potential for continued disruptions.
