**Hyderabad/Amaravati:** Torrential rains wreaked havoc across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana on Thursday, causing widespread disruption. Heavy downpours inundated Hyderabad, leading to waterlogging and disruption of traffic. Trees were uprooted in several areas.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of more heavy rainfall in both states on Friday and Saturday. A trough of low pressure at 0.9 km above sea level is expected to cause moderate to heavy rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning.

Telangana’s weather department has issued a heavy rainfall warning for 23 districts, including Mulugu, Warangal, Vikarabad, Ranga Reddy, Medchal, Yadadri, Siddipet, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Bhadradri, and Mahabubabad, with strong winds expected in several areas. Authorities are urging citizens to exercise caution and avoid unnecessary travel.

In Andhra Pradesh, Thursday’s untimely rains caused significant crop damage, particularly to banana plantations. The IMD forecasts heavy rainfall for Friday in Alluri, Kakinada, East Godavari, Anantapur, Annamayya, and Tirupati districts. Saturday’s forecast includes heavy rain in Alluri, Anakapalli, Kakinada, Konaseema, and East Godavari districts. There is a possibility of thunderstorms in several areas. Authorities are advising residents to remain vigilant.
