Fri Apr 04 06:34:52 UTC 2025: ## BRS IT Cell Faces Four Cases Over Fake Wildlife Videos
**Hyderabad, April 4, 2025** – The Gachibowli police in Hyderabad have filed four cases against the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) IT cell for allegedly spreading false information about wildlife incidents on the University of Hyderabad (UoH) campus through manipulated videos and social media posts.
The complaints allege that the BRS IT cell, using its official Instagram and X accounts, circulated fabricated videos suggesting the death of a spotted deer, and shared edited clips of deer to incite unrest under the hashtag #SaveHCUBioDiversity. Further complaints claim the IT cell posted morphed videos related to UoH land to provoke student unrest and spread false claims about the Telangana government killing a deer during tree-cutting operations. These claims were substantiated with URLs of offending posts.
The complainants include a Forest Range Officer, NSUI-Telangana’s B. Arundwai Reddy, and Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) social media chairman Manne Satish Kumar. Notices have been issued to M. Krishank, head of the BRS IT cell, demanding details regarding the origin and distribution of the misleading content.
The charges against the BRS IT cell include public mischief, cyber offences, and disturbing communal harmony. The police investigation is underway.
