Fri Apr 04 02:40:00 UTC 2025: ## Two Days of Relief: Monsoon Rains Cool Down Scorching Tamil Nadu

**Chennai, [Date]** – Two days of widespread rainfall across Tamil Nadu have brought much-needed relief from the scorching summer heat. Temperatures had soared above 100 degrees Fahrenheit in 10 districts, causing significant hardship for residents. However, a low-pressure system over the southeast Arabian Sea and southern Kerala has resulted in widespread showers, particularly in southern districts.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rainfall in several districts, including Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Nilgiris, Erode, Theni, Dindigul, Tenkasi, Tirunelveli, Kanyakumari, and Virudhunagar, for the next two days.

Private weather analyst Pradeep John predicts that the monsoon rains will continue in southern, central, and delta districts until the 20th, with a possibility of heavy rainfall in the coming days. He attributes this to the development of an upper atmospheric circulation. While coastal districts, including Chennai, are expected to receive less rainfall, other areas can anticipate widespread showers. John further notes that unlike last April’s intense heatwave, which saw temperatures reaching 44°C, this year’s heat is expected to be significantly mitigated by the anticipated rainfall.
