Fri Apr 04 01:00:00 UTC 2025: **Heavy Rainfall and Strong Winds Predicted for South Bengal**

Kolkata, West Bengal – The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rainfall accompanied by strong winds across South Bengal, including Kolkata, starting Friday. The prediction follows a recent shift in weather patterns, with a milder breeze despite continued warm temperatures.

The IMD attributes the impending downpour to the presence of multiple cyclonic circulations over various regions. These include systems near Jammu & Kashmir, Assam, and the area bordering North Bengal and Bangladesh. Another cyclonic circulation has intensified over central Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh, and a further system is located over the Southeast Arabian Sea. These systems are influencing weather patterns across Bengal.

While Friday will see cloudy skies and high humidity, the heavy rainfall is expected to be scattered throughout South Bengal. Western districts are predicted to experience higher temperatures. The IMD forecasts scattered thunderstorms with rain to continue from Monday to Thursday across South Bengal, with winds reaching speeds of 30-40 kilometers per hour.

North Bengal, however, is expected to experience less significant temperature changes and rainfall, with only Darjeeling possibly seeing rain on Sunday. North Bengal might see increased thunderstorms and strong winds on Tuesday, with heavier rainfall expected that day. Scattered thunderstorms are likely in eight districts of North Bengal until Thursday.
