Wed Apr 02 07:20:00 UTC 2025: ## AIMPLB Condemns Waqf Amendment Bill, Claims it Undermines Muslim Rights
**NEW DELHI** – The All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) has strongly condemned the proposed Waqf Amendment Bill 2025, alleging it will significantly curtail Muslim community rights and hand over control of Waqf properties to the government. In a press conference held ahead of the bill’s expected introduction in the Lok Sabha, General Secretary Mohammad Fazlur Rahim described the amendments as “extremely serious” and capable of fundamentally altering the Waqf system.
Key concerns raised by the AIMPLB include: the removal of Muslims from the CEO position of Waqf boards; the transfer of control over Waqf properties to the government; a requirement that legal practitioners involved in Waqf matters must be Muslim; a clause treating Waqf property as government property until an official decision is made; the granting of continued occupancy to those who have held Waqf property for 12 years; and the repeal of section 104.
The AIMPLB further accused the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) of exacerbating the issue, claiming the inclusion of a government official ensured a biased outcome. The Board termed the JPC process a “fraud” and called the bill an attack on the rights of the Muslim community. They urged the government to reconsider the bill, arguing it is a ploy to increase government control over Waqf properties, resulting in significant harm to the Muslim community.
