Tue Apr 01 04:40:00 UTC 2025: ## TPCC Chief Accuses BRS of Land Grab in HCU Controversy
**Hyderabad, April 1, 2025** – The ongoing controversy surrounding the alleged encroachment of Hyderabad Central University (HCU) lands has taken a new turn with Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) chief, Mahesh Kumar Goud, leveling serious accusations against the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) party.
Goud accused the BRS of illegally acquiring HCU land, citing the construction of My Home buildings on university land as evidence. He questioned the BJP’s silence on the matter during the previous government’s tenure, alleging that roads were also constructed on HCU land then. He further alleged that former CM KCR facilitated the transfer of HCU land to his benamis, questioning the government’s claim that wildlife was a concern in the current land dispute.
Goud stated that while the government claims to have allocated 397 acres in Gopanpally to HCU in exchange for 534 acres acquired, he believes this is a cover-up for a larger land grab. He also accused KTR of using the student protests for political gain. He demanded a survey of all university lands in the state to prevent further encroachment.
Goud also requested the Chief Minister to conduct a comprehensive survey of all university lands in Telangana, asserting that a thorough investigation would reveal further instances of land grabbing. He also commented on the upcoming cabinet expansion, stating that the Congress party had offered suggestions but the final decision rests with the party high command. He mentioned his upcoming travel to Delhi for a Backward Classes (BC) protest.
