HYDERABAD, INDIA (March 28, 2025) – Nithiin and director Venky Kudumula’s highly anticipated reunion film, *Robinhood*, has fallen short of expectations at the box office. Five years since Nithiin’s last successful film, the action-comedy, produced by Mythri Movie Makers, failed to recapture the magic of their previous collaboration, *Bheeshma*.
The film, starring Nithiin as Ram, a Robin Hood-esque figure who robs the rich to help orphans, features Sreeleela as the female lead. While the production boasted a star-studded cast including Rajendra Prasad, Vennela Kishore, Devdatta Nage, Shine Tom Chacko, Ketika Sharma, and a cameo by Australian cricketer David Warner, critics panned the weak script and direction.
Reviews highlight Nithiin’s performance as inconsistent, while Sreeleela’s comedic attempts fell flat. The supporting cast, despite its impressive names, was largely criticized for poorly written roles, with only Subhalekha Sudhakar’s performance receiving praise. David Warner’s cameo was deemed unnecessary and silly. Furthermore, Ketika Sharma’s special song sequence drew criticism for its suggestive dance moves.
The film’s technical aspects were equally mixed. G. V. Prakash Kumar’s music was a significant letdown, with critics noting a repetitive and uninspired background score. However, Sai Sriram’s cinematography was praised for its visually appealing shots.
Despite high production values evident throughout, the film’s weak writing, ineffective screenplay, and rushed action sequences hampered its overall appeal. While some pre-climax scenes generated emotional engagement, they were insufficient to salvage the film’s flaws. Director Venky Kudumula’s departure from his usual romantic comedy style did not resonate with audiences.
Overall, *Robinhood* is considered a missed opportunity, a half-hearted attempt at an action-comedy marred by a weak script and inconsistent performances, despite a few redeeming qualities in cinematography and emotional moments.
