LOS ANGELES – Marvel Studios dropped a bombshell during a five-and-a-half-hour livestream event, revealing an all-star cast for the upcoming *Avengers: Doomsday*. The film, slated for release May 1, 2026, will reunite numerous MCU favorites with actors from the former Fox X-Men franchise and the upcoming *Fantastic Four* films.

The event, a slow reveal of director’s chairs bearing actors’ names, confirmed the return of Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom, marking a highly anticipated return to the MCU after his retirement as Iron Man in *Avengers: Endgame*. Other confirmed Avengers include Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Tom Hiddleston (Loki), Anthony Mackie (Captain America), Paul Rudd (Ant-Man), and Letitia Wright (Black Panther), among others.

Adding to the excitement, the cast will also feature a significant portion of the upcoming *Thunderbolts* team, including Sebastian Stan, Florence Pugh, and Wyatt Russell. The X-Men universe will be represented by Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, James Marsden, Rebecca Romijn, Alan Cumming, and Kelsey Grammer. The *Fantastic Four* will debut with Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Joseph Quinn. Tenoch Huerta Mejía, who played Namor in *Black Panther: Wakanda Forever*, will also appear, despite facing past allegations of misconduct.

While 26 actors were revealed, Marvel hinted that further casting announcements are to come. Notably absent from the initial announcement were Tom Holland (Spider-Man) and Chris Evans (Captain America), though Evans’ appearance is expected in at least one of the two-part *Avengers* film series.

The Russo Brothers, directors of *Avengers: Infinity War* and *Endgame*, are back at the helm, tackling the challenge of managing this massive ensemble cast. They confirmed their use of a unique system to keep track of the vast number of characters. *Avengers: Secret Wars*, the sequel, is scheduled for release on May 7, 2027.
