**Mumbai, March 24, 2025** – A devastating fire ripped through a 13-story residential building in Mumbai’s Vidyavihar area this morning, claiming the life of a security guard and injuring another. The blaze erupted around 4:35 am in the Takshshila Co-operative Housing Society on Nathani Road.
Fifteen to twenty residents were safely evacuated, but two security guards suffered severe burn injuries. Uday Gangan (43) succumbed to his injuries at Rajawadi Hospital, sustaining 100% burns. Sabhajit Yadav (52), with 25-30% burns, is currently undergoing treatment.
The fire, classified as a level-two incident, damaged five flats on the first and second floors, affecting electrical installations, furniture, and personal belongings. The blaze also impacted common areas on those floors. Firefighters brought the situation under control by 7:33 am. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
