**New Delhi, March 23, 2025** – India has achieved a significant milestone in agricultural exports, shipping its first consignment of GI-tagged jaggery and anthurium flowers to international markets. A 30-tonne shipment of jaggery from Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, known for its high-quality sugarcane, has been sent to Bangladesh. This marks the beginning of direct exports from western Uttar Pradesh via Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) and Farmer Producer Companies (FPCs), according to a Commerce Ministry statement.
Simultaneously, India exported its first-ever consignment of Anthurium flowers to Singapore. The flowers, a key crop in Mizoram, play a crucial role in the local economy, particularly benefiting farmers, including women.
The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) is actively working to boost exports of fruits, vegetables, and other agricultural products. These developments highlight India’s growing focus on expanding its agricultural exports and supporting farmers through initiatives like FPOs and FPCs.
