Sun Mar 23 09:50:00 UTC 2025: ## Outrage Erupts After Husband Receives Manslaughter Conviction in Birthday Shooting Death of Wife

**Hardin County, KY** – The family and friends of Ashley Henning are expressing profound outrage over the manslaughter conviction of her husband, Jordan Henning, who admitted to fatally shooting her on her 37th birthday. Jordan Henning was found guilty of first-degree manslaughter, receiving a maximum sentence of 20 years, despite video evidence showing him screaming at Ashley before shooting her twice, reloading, and shooting her twice more as she lay on the floor.

The June 26th shooting occurred at the couple’s Hardin County home after a birthday party. Prosecutors argued that Jordan, a fellow U.S. Army veteran stationed at Fort Knox, acted with intent, fueled by a strained relationship. However, Jordan claimed he “broke” during an argument and feared for his life after a neighbor, Jimmy Watts, intervened in their dispute and allegedly threatened him. Jordan testified he grabbed a gun but didn’t remember shooting Ashley.

The jury, composed entirely of white individuals after a Black juror was dismissed, sided with Jordan’s self-defense claim. This verdict has sparked accusations of racial bias from Ashley’s loved ones, given Ashley’s Black heritage and Jordan’s white heritage. Ashley’s cousin, Marine Corps Chief Warrant Officer John Williams, vehemently condemned the jury’s decision, calling them “cowards.” Friends Jamie Savat and Hollie Victorino echoed these sentiments, asserting that a Black woman would have faced far harsher consequences for killing a white husband.

Nest camera footage played a central role in the trial, showcasing the heated argument and the subsequent shooting. Testimony from witnesses, including both friends of Ashley and colleagues of Jordan, painted a picture of marital conflict, but the degree of Jordan’s culpability remained a point of contention.

The relatively lenient sentence—a maximum of 20 years with 85% required before parole consideration—has ignited widespread anger among Ashley’s loved ones and prompted them to decry what they perceive as a significant miscarriage of justice. The case has reignited discussions about racial bias in the justice system and the consequences of domestic violence. Jordan Henning’s formal sentencing is pending.
